About you

We are looking for a biomedical engineer (or a mechanical and/or electrical engineer who is interested in biomedical R&D) who is excited to develop technology at the interface of medical devices and biology. You will work directly with the co-founders to design and execute ex vivo experiments that will guide the development of our clinical prototype.

The ideal candidate is someone who is interested in working at a startup and is eager to develop their technical skills. This is a unique opportunity, as one of our first employees, to be involved with multiple aspects of a hardtech biomedical startup, including preclinical studies, interfacing with clinicians, and fundraising.

This is a paid position. Minimum of 12 weeks required for internship; co-op duration equivalent to summer and fall academic semesters. Part-time or full-time opportunities are available after successful completion of the internship or co-op. Ideal start date would be in April or May, but we can be flexible.

Educational background

  • BS candidate with 3+ years of coursework or MS candidate in biomedical/mechanical/electrical engineering (or related field)

Desired skills

  • Ability to develop and execute rigorous experiments

  • Prior applied research experience (e.g., other industry internships, undergraduate/graduate research)

  • General knowledge of medical imaging

  • Data analysis experience with Matlab and/or Python

  • Elementary experience with CAD tools (e.g., Solidworks, Fusion 360)

Location

This position is based in Washington, DC. Up-to-date vaccination is required for access to the facility.
